HUSKIES OVERCOME THUNDERHAWKS, ADVANCE TO THIRD STRAIGHT SECTION TITLE GAME

The Jackson County Central boys basketball team rallied to avenge a pair of recent losses with a South sub-section championship win over Montevideo in Marshall on Saturday.

The eighth-ranked Huskies led or tied the third-ranked Thunderhawks for the first five minutes. Monte fully took over the lead and grew it to 11 late in the first half before leading 33-29 at halftime. JCC rallied back to the lead before losing it again at the halfway point of the second half. The Huskies wrestled away full control and opened the lead up down the stretch for the 77-63 victory.

JCC is back on the winning side after last year’s one-point section title heartbreaker and a four-point January loss to Montevideo.

Huskies head coach Alex Hein says they stayed the course to advance to a third straight section title game.
