The Jackson County Central girls basketball team will be looking for an upset in St. James as they begin the Section 3AA Tournament.
The 11-15 Huskies are the #6 South seed visiting #3 South seed St. James Area.
The 21-5 Saints have only lost to state-ranked Fairmont during the 2026 calendar. St. James Area swept JCC during the regular season. Our coverage begins at 6:45 with the tip-off at 7:00 p.m. inside the Event Center.
The winner of the JCC game plays either #2 South seed Pipestone Area or #7 South seed Redwood Valley on Tuesday. The 22-3 Arrows routed the 1-24 Cardinals twice in the regular season.
Fairmont is the top seed with #8 South seed Montevideo in town on Friday. The seventh-ranked Cardinals are 25-2 overall as they welcome the 1-25 Thunderhawks. The #4 South seed Windom Area is hosting #5 South seed Luverne. The 17-9 Eagles split a pair of games with the 14-12 Cardinals in the regular season. The winners in that part of the bracket play each other on Tuesday, February 24. The South subsection title game and section semifinal is happening on Thursday, February 26, in Worthington.
New London-Spicer is the top seed in the North subsection. The fourth-ranked 25-1 Wildcats are hosting the 3-22 Litchfield Dragons on Friday. Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta is the #4 North seed hosting #5 North seed Eden Valley-Watkins. The Tigers are 12-11 and the Eagles are 8-17 overall. Minnewaska Area is the #2 North seed hosting the #7 North seed Paynesville. The Lakers are 20-6 and the Bulldogs are 7-18 overall. Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg is the #3 North seed hosting #6 North seed Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City. The Fighting Saints are 20-6 and the Falcons are 10-15 overall. The North subsection semifinals will be in Willmar on Tuesday. The North subsection title will be in Willmar on Thursday.
The Section 3AA Championship takes place on Thursday, March 5, at SMSU in Marshall.
