The Jackson County Central boys basketball team is the #2 South seed in the Section 3AA Tournament with a home game to start the bracket on Friday.
The Huskies are hosting the #7 South seed Pipestone Area. JCC swept the 8-18 Arrows in the regular season with a December 2 season-opening 81-61 home win and 70-44 road victory on January 13. The Huskies are looking to extend an eight-game winning streak in the rivalry series. JCC also beat Pipestone last time they met in the postseason during 2024. Friday’s coverage begins at 6:45 with the tip-off at 7:00 p.m. on KKOJ.
The winner plays either #3 South seed Fairmont or #6 South seed Windom Area on Tuesday, March 3. JCC split with the Cardinals and swept the Eagles.
Montevideo is the top South seed hosting #8 South seed Redwood Valley. JCC lost to the state-ranked Thunderhawks on the road January 10 and swept the Cardinals. Luverne is the #4 South seed hosting #5 South seed St. James Area. JCC split with the Cardinals and swept the Saints. The winners of each game play each other on Tuesday, March 3. The host site for the South side that night is to be determined.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta is the top North seed hosting #8 Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City. New London-Spicer is the #4 North seed hosting #5 North seed Paynesville Area. Those winners play each other. Litchfield is the #2 North seed hosting #7 North seed Eden Valley-Watkins. Minnewaska Area is the #3 North seed hosting #6 North seed Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg. Those winners play each other. The section quarterfinals and North subsection semifinals happen at Willmar High School on Tuesday, March 3.
The subsection championships and section semifinals are Saturday, March 7. The section title game is Thursday, March 12. All three of those games happen at SMSU in Marshall.
