HMS Basketball Splits With MMC

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn won a hard nosed defensive battle over Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn 45-36 on Friday night in War Eagle Conference girls basketball on Q102. The Eagles actually had the slight 13-12 advantage after one but the Hawks defense gave up just five points in the second quarter to take a 26-18 halftime lead. H-M-S extended their lead to 35-27 after three. In the fourth quarter M-M-C had the lead down to six but the Hawks would hold on for the victory.
 
Katie Mills led all scorers with 12 to lead H-M-S. Jaylin Rieck had 9. The Hawks are 9-4 (2-3 War Eagle) and travel to Harris-Lake Park Monday. You can hear that game on Q102. Sarah Dreckman paced M-M-C with 11. The Eagles are 5-7 (0-2 War Eagle).

Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn built a 12 point halftime lead over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Friday night and held on for a 45-40 War Eagle Conference win in Hartley. The Eagles put up 33 in the first half, only to score just 12 in the second half. The score was 38-35 after three quarters. The Hawks had the lead down to 38-37 and 42-40 but failed to score on offense after that.

M-M-C’s Dylan Spieler led all scorers with 18. Blake Simons led the Hawks with 17. H-M-S is 6-6 (2-4 War Eagle). They play at Harris-Lake Park on Monday. That contest can be heard on Q102. The Eagles improve to 6-5 (2-3 War Eagle).
