The Harris-Lake Park softball team knocked in four runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 6-0 and held on for a 7-2 non-conference win over Sibley-Ocheydan, last night, in Lake Park.
Macy Gunderson got the win on the mound, giving up two runs on two hits. She struck out seven and walked three. Emily Anderson was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for the Wolves, who improved to 4-6, and host a double-header with West Bend-Mallard on Monday.
The Generals settled down after the second inning and made things interesting in the seventh when they scored their two runs. Taylor Wasmund was 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk. Makenzie Kleve was 1-for-3 with a single. Jurnea Harberts took the loss on the mound She struck out five while walking a pair. The Generals are 2-5 and travel to Sheldon for a conference game on Friday.
The North Union softball team beat Spirit Lake, 14-2, last night. The Indians will look to bounce back at home against Estherville-Lincoln Central tonight.
Tomorrow, the Indians host the Spirit Lake Invitational, sponsored by KUOO and State Farm Insurance Agent Scott Trautman, it’ll feature 16 teams, seven conferences, and 24 games on four diamonds.
The Okoboji softball team is one of the teams participating in that event. The Pioneers were shut out, 2-0, last night, by George-Little Rock. Okoboji is on the road, tonight, against MOC-Floyd-Valley.
Also, Emmetsburg gets their first conference win of the season downing Cherokee 13-3 in 5 innings. HMS beat Lemars Gehlen 5-4, Alta Aurelia beat Clay Central Everly 6-2 and West Bend Mallard beat Manson NW Webster 12-1.
