The Harris-Lake Park baseball team trailed 8-7, last night, heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, when Colin Brons led things off with a double. Eli Ihnen followed that up with a base hit. Brons would score, and then Ihnen scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly from Kade Heikens. Wolves win, 9-8.
Brons went 2 for 3 with a double, Tanner Green was also 2 for 3. Heikens and Ihnen each went 2 for 4.
The Wolves will be back in action, Friday, on the road against West Lyon.
Emmetsburg jumped out to an early 3 – 0 lead after the first inning and held on for the 12 – 2 victory in 6 innings on Tuesday night over Newell Fonda. The Mustangs would get 2 runs in the 2nd inning and the score would remain 3 – 2 until the 5th inning when Emmetsburg tacked on 3 more runs. In the bottom of the 6 inning, lightening delayed the game 30 minutes. When play resumed, the E’hawks scored 6 runs on 6 hits and closed out the game in 6 innings.
Everyone in Emmetsburg’s starting lineup had at least one hit. They were led by Joe Jackson as he went 3 – 4 with 3 RBI’s. The E’hawks scored 12 Runs on 12 Hits. Newell Fonda had 2 Runs on 5 Hits and five different players each had a single. The winning pitcher was Jake Jackson as he pitched 6 innings and gave up 2 Runs (1 Earned), 5 Hits and struck out 7 batters. The losing pitcher was Dillon Anderson as he went 5 innings and gave up 7 Runs (6 Earned), 7 Hits, 5 strike outs and 4 walks.
Emmetsburg has now won 4 in a row and improve to 6 – 4 and will host Storm Lake on Wednesday. Newell Fonda has now lost 6 in a row and fall to 2 – 8 and will be at Pocahontas on Wednesday.
Also last night GT/RA beat Sioux Central 9 – 7.
The Okoboji and Spirit Lake baseball teams are both back in action tonight. Each team is coming off of a win on Monday.
The Pioneers registered a 12-0 shut out of Sibley-Ocheydan. Spirit Lake edged Storm Lake, 7-6, where they got what turned out to be the game winning run from Nick Amundson, who helped cause a balk by the Storm Lake pitcher when he attempted to steal home.
