Girls Game:
Harris-Lake Park raced out to a 22-7 lead after one quarter over West Bend-Mallard on Tuesday night and never looked back in a 54-30 Cornbelt Conference victory. The Wolves led 34-12 at halftime and 40-18 after three quarters. Macy Gunderson and Noreen Morrow each had 15 points for the Wolves. Grace Winters had 10 for H-LP who improves to 12-4 (6-0 Cornbelt).
Next up for the Wolves is a tough non-conference matchup against Unity Christian on Tuesday. WB-M got eight from Portlind Schmidt off the bench. The Wolverines are 0-16 (0-8). They play West Hancock on Monday.
Boys Game:
Harris-Lake Park saw its eight point lead against West Bend-Mallard evaporate in the third quarter, but the Wolves bounced back and made their free throws in the fourth quarter to take an 83-69 victory on Tuesday night. H-LP led 18-17 after one quarter and 38-30 at halftime. WB-M would actually rally early in the third quarter and take a two point lead, but the Wolves bounced back to lead 54-46 at the end of the third. H-LP would make their free throws and hold on in the fourth to snap a four game losing streak.
Brady Van Iperen led all scorers with 33 and Cole Bosma had 26 for the Wolves, who are 7-7 (5-1 Cornbelt). They are at C-W-L on Friday. WB-M had four players in double figures. Jason Zinnel had 18 and crossed the 1000 point mark for his career. Jordan Buhs also had 18. Jesse Zinnel had 15, and Cole Banwart chipped in 13 for the Wolverines who are 8-7 (4-4 Cornbelt). They host West Hancock on Monday.
