@Milford
Okoboji hosted a Varsity/JV invite last night in Milford. Varsity teams included Estherville Lincoln Central, Sibley-Ocheyedan, West Bend Mallard and Okoboji.
Okoboji went 1-2 on the night. We started off with West Bend Mallard and never really found our footing in the first set. We rallied back in set two but fell short in set three. We weren’t passing the greatest in service receive which took us out of our offensive game a little bit. Riley Meyer was on her defensive game as she recorded 15 digs and Katie Jensen had 10.
Our next match we took on Sibley-Ocheydan. We knew from Saturday at Spirit Lake how scrappy they were and that we needed to run a quick offense. We ended up splitting the first two sets, but pulled out the win in set three. I was really proud of how the girls did not quit in set 3 and were able to overcome attacking errors to pull through.
Our final match of the night was against ELC. The crowds were both very into it which made it a fun environment. We struggled to get our middles involved due to passing, so our outsides had to do most of the work. However, ELC was able to read this and adjusted in defense so we weren’t as effective out there.
A few overall stats for the night:
Alexa Christoffels – 50 assists
Riley Meyer-34 digs
Celeste DeVos – 20 kills, 25 digs
Kylan Loken – 12 kills
