The first full points racing event of the 2013 season was run at the Jackson Speedway Saturday night. With racing in eight classes, the Minniakota Microsprints and Outlaw Micro Modifieds got their first opportunity to race on the Speedway’s newly-constructed one-sixth mile oval in front of the grandstands. A field of 106 racers turned out on a sunny Summer evening.
Feature wins went to Myron Pool in the Outlaw Mini Modifieds and Kalob Johnson in the MicroSprints. Nate Coopman took the checkers in the Sport Compacts and Justin Nehring won the Hobby Stock feature, while Nick Johanson won the Sport Mod main event. Bill Boles would win the 305 sprint feature, with Dustin Larson winning the Stock Car feature event and Skyler Prochaska capping off the night with the 360 feature win.
Action resumes Saturday night, July 6, for the first visit this season of the Redline Oils – IMCA North Star Modified Touring Series, as the A Modifieds will take to the historic half-mile on the Jackson County Fairgrounds.
Additionally, Saturday will be The 5th Annual Dominic Bruns Memorial Race for the Hometown Motors IMCA Stock Cars, who will race for $1,000 to win.
Thanks to Dan Voigt, Media Relations for the Speedway, for the recap.
