BAILEY FINCK HITS MILESTONE IN HUSKIES ROUT OF CARDINALS

The Jackson County Central softball team opened Big South Conference play with a bang at home on Tuesday.
The Huskies routed Fairmont 15-3 in five innings.
The Cardinals took the initial 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Bailey Finck responded with her 100th career RBI on a double that scored Kinley VanDeVere and tied the game. The Huskies collected four runs in that home half of the first.
JCC scored five more runs in the second. Fairmont scored a pair in the top of the third to make it 9-3 JCC. The Huskies scored another handful in the third highlighted by home runs from Hadley Wachal and Brielle Tufvesson. JCC added one more in the fourth and then finished off the run-rule victory.
Hadley Wachal scored three runs and batted in three runs with a pair of hits plus one walk. Kelcie Sillman scored three runs to go with a hit, an RBI, and a walk. Brielle Tufvesson had a pair of runs, hits, and RBIs. Mady Wachal and Kinley VanDeVere each had a double of their own. Mady Wachal batted in a pair of runs and scored once. Kinley VanDeVere scored her own trio of runs and drew a walk. Miley VanDeVere had a pair of hits and RBIs. Braelyn Boogerd had a run, a hit, and an RBI.
The 4-1 Huskies are hosting Luverne for a doubleheader on Thursday.

HUSKIES LOSE BY RUN-RULE IN FAIRMONT

The Jackson County Central baseball team lost in Fairmont.
The hometown Cardinals collected a 10-0 victory over the Huskies in five innings. Fairmont scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, two more in the third, and five in the fourth.
Carson Kolander smacked a double. Jace Jorgenson had a single. Talan Holm and Haiden Warmka each earned a walk.
Levi Thompson did most of the pitching for the Huskies. He gave up six runs with five of them earned on six hits to go with one strikeout and one walk in 2 ⅔ innings. Holm, Kolander, and Carson Doescher also pitched for JCC.
The 3-4 Huskies finish up a six-game road swing at Redwood Valley on Thursday. The Cardinals visit JCC on Friday and we will have that game on KKOJ.

JCC BOYS TIE FOR 6TH, GIRLS 7TH IN REDWOOD

Natalia Botello-Ramos, Allison Luebben, and James Atura led the Jackson County Central track and field effort at the Redwood Valley Varsity Invitational.
James Atura posted his best time of the season with 16.25 as the runner-up in the boys 110-meter hurdles.
The boys tied for sixth place with Windom Area out of 10 teams.
Botello-Ramos won the 100 meters with a personal best of 12.48 for the third-best time in JCC history. Luebben posted a season-best of 27.58 to win the 200 meters.
The girls finished seventh place out of 10 teams.

The Huskies are back in action in Worthington on Thursday.

MILLER LEADS HUSKIES AT DODGE INVITE

Tavin Miller led the Jackson County Central boys golf team at the Dodge Invitational on Tuesday.
Miller posted a score of 85 and tied for 13th place after 18 holes at Dodge Country Club.
Gavin Pohlman shot 96 as part of a three-way tie for 27th place. Kyler Thier shot 97 in a tie for 30th place. Linkon Phillips shot 101 in a tie for 36th place. Jessy Gentry shot 102 to take 38th place. Brock Berker shot 110 in a tie for 43rd place.
The JCC boys collected a team score of 379 for seventh place out of eight teams. The event host Kasson-Mantorville was the top team with 325 ahead of St. Peter with 327, Cannon Falls with 350, Belle Plaine with 355, Chatfield with 360, and Triton with 362. Lake City with 446 finished behind JCC.
The Huskies host Windom Area on Thursday at Jackson Golf Club.
