Emmetsburg started the game off hot leading 18 – 12 after the 1st quarter and never trailed winning 54 – 47 over Cherokee on Friday night. The E’hawks would build a 12 point lead at half and hold on for the victory down the stretch. It ends a 2 game losing streak. Ashton Connelly for Emmetsburg led all scorers with 21 points. Cherokee was led by Kaely Hummel with 19 points.
Emmetsburg improves to 10 – 8, 8 – 5 and will be at West Bend Mallard Monday. Cherokee falls to 7 – 13, 4 – 9 and will be at Spencer Tuesday.
Boys
Hot shooting was also the case for the Emmetsburg boys as the E’hawks shot 56% in route to a 63 – 44 victory over Cherokee. The win snaps Emmetsburg’s 7 game losing streak. They were led by Erik Drost with 18 points and Mike Myers with 11. Cherokee had 16 points from Brett Walker.
