Emmetsburg led 6 – 0 after the 1st quarter in the game Tuesday night against Storm Lake and never looked back in winning 40 – 19. Storm Lake however would outscore Emmetsburg 10 – 4 in the 3rd quarter to get within 8 points but the E’hawks would outscore the Tornadoes 18 – 5 in the 4th to pull away. Emmetsburg was led by Tegan Olson and Bailey Naig each with 12 points as they snap a 2 game losing streak. Storm Lake was led by Dezirae Reyes with 9 points.
Emmetsburg improves to 9 – 6, 7 – 3 and will host Western Christian Friday on Y 100. Storm Lake falls to 1 – 14, 1 – 9 and will host Pocahontas Thursday.
Boys
It was a hot start by Storm Lake that set the tone in the nightcap as the Tornadoes outscored the E’hawks from Emmetsburg 15 – 7 and would cruise to a 64 – 48 victory. Storm Lake had 2 players in double figures led by Yach Deng with 29 and Koung Deng with 16 points. Emmetsburg was led by Erik Drost with 18 points. Emmetsburg has now dropped 5 in a row, while Storm Lake has won 2 in a row.
Emmetsburg falls to 5 – 10, 2 – 8 and will host Western Christian Friday. Storm Lake improves to 4 – 11, 3 – 7 and will host Spencer Friday.
