Girls
The girl’s game between Emmetsburg and LeMars was a close one until the 4th quarter. It was tied at 12 after 1, 23-22 LeMars at half, and 33-31 LeMars after 3. However in the 4th quarter Emmetsburg outscored LeMars 17-5 to come from behind and defeat LeMars 48 – 38 for their 4th straight win. At the midway point in the 4th quarter it was 37-36 Emmetsburg, the E’hawks would outscore the Bulldogs 11-2 the rest of the way. Emmetsburg had 3 players in double figures led by Bailey Naig with 16 points, 12 of those coming in the 2nd half and 10 of those coming in the 4th quarter. LeMars was led by Holly Schneider with 17 points, but 13 of those came in the 1st half and was limited to only 4 second half points.
Emmetsburg improves to 8 – 4, 6 – 2 and will be at Okoboji Thursday on Q 102. LeMars falls to 3 – 10, 3 – 5 and will be at Western Christian on Friday.
Boys
The boys game started off cold in the first half with LeMars only leading 12 – 6 after 1 and 24 – 17 at halftime. In the second half, LeMars would pull away outscoring Emmetsburg 32 – 23 for a 16 point victory by the score of 56 – 40. Emmetsburg was led by Thomas Schultes off the bench with 11 points. LeMars had 3 players in doubles led by Tyler Borchers with 20 points.
Emmetsburg falls to 5 – 7, 2 – 6 and will be at Okoboji Thursday. LeMars improves to 9 – 3, 7 – 1 and will be at Western Christian on Friday.
