The Emmetsburg baseball team wins a pitcher duals on Saturday night 2-1 over Estherville and advance to a substate Tuesday night against Hinton. The E’hawks would score 1 run in the 1st inning and that would last until the 6th when Estherville tied it up. In the top of the 7th inning, Emmetsburg scored 1 run on a bases loaded walk and would take the lead 2-1 going into the bottom of the 7th. In the home half of the inning, Estherville would strand baserunners at 1st and 2nd and thus ending the game.
Emmetsburg finished with 2 runs on 8 hits. They were led by Dillon VanOosbree going 2-4 and Jacob Kibbie and Joe Jackson each went 2-3. The RBI’s came from Aaron Bird and Greg Wesley. Estherville was held to 1 run on 5 hits. Alec Wycoff, Austin Egeland, Zach Humble, Trey Jacobson and Dan Christensen each had 1 hit.
The winning pitcher was Dillon VanOosbree going 7 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 7. The losing pitcher was Austin Egeland going 2 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits. He came in relief of Billy Snyder who went 5 innings and giving up 1 run on 5 hits.
Estherville finishes the season at 15-10 and graduate 9 seniors. Emmetsburg improves to 18-11 and will be in a substate Tuesday in Spirit Lake against Hinton as they defeated Sioux Center 7-2. You can listen to broadcast on Y 100 Tuesday July 22nd at 7 PM
