Eagles and Cardinals Eliminated, Mavericks Drop Home Finale

The season came to an end for the Windom Area and Fairmont boys hockey teams in the Section 3A Boys Hockey Tournament quarterfinal round on Thursday night.
The Eagles lost 11-0 to top-seeded Luverne at Blue Mound Ice Arena. The Cardinals outshot Windom 67-5 after scoring four goals in each of the first two periods plus a trio in the third period. The Eagles finish the season with a 9-17-1 overall record.
Fairmont lost 13-0 to Mankato West at All Seasons Arena. The Cardinals finished the season with an 8-14 overall record.

The Martin County West boys basketball team endured a loss to Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in the home finale on Thursday night.
The Mavericks dropped a 67-49 decision to the Firebirds.
Chase Owens led MCW with 12 points. Lixon Forsberg and Landen Winter each added 10 points. Cole Jacobsen had a game-high 19 points for GFW.
The 3-22 Mavericks visit New Ulm Cathedral for the regular season finale on Friday night.
