Class 2A and 3A Postseason Softball Scores From July 9th

Class 2A Region 1

Okoboji’s comeback attempt fell short in Larchwood on Tuesday night, and the Pioneers season came to an end in the form of a 10-6 loss to West Lyon in Class 2A Region 1 tournament play.
 
The Wildcats scored five runs on four hits in the second and three runs on four hits in the third to build a 10-0 lead over Okoboji. West Lyon pitcher Jaime Tracy got the win on the mound, giving up six runs on nine hits. She struck out 11 and walked just three. West Lyon’s offense was led by Kierstyn Dell who went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI. Chelsea Tilstra went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Okoboji’s Sydney Boeckholt took the loss on the mound. She gave up all 10 runs (eight earned) on 11 hits. She struck out eight and walked six. Offensively, Emily Wintz went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Olivia Rohlk went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI.
 
Okoboji’s season ends at 6-23. Boeckholt was the Pioneers’ lone senior on their roster. West Lyon is now 10-12 and play G-LR/CL on Wednesday night in George.

Also, Sibley Ocheyedan beat Hartley Melvin Sanborn 4 – 0  and will now take on HWC Wednesday and Lawton Bronson beat South O’Brien 10 – 0.

Class 2A Region 2

Emmetsburg controlled the first five innings of their postseason softball game against Eagle Grove and led 3 – 0 after 5.  In the sixth inning, Eagle Grove would score 2 runs on 3 hits and the game was 3 – 2 Emmetsburg heading into the seventh inning.  The E’Hawks would not score in the top of the 7th and in the bottom of the 7th the Eagles would score 2 runs, one on a pass ball and another on an error and beat Emmetsburg 4 – 3.  They scored all four runs in the final 2 innings. 

Emmetsburg had 3 runs on 6 hits and was led by Michaela Rehm as she went 2 – 3 with an RBI.  Eagle Grove was led by Kylee Almond and Megan Crail both going 2 – 3.  The winning pitcher was Heather Wilson going 7 innings giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and 5 K’s.  The losing pitcher was Ashton Connelly going 7 innnings giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits while striking out 11 and walking 1.

Eagle Grove improves to 16 – 18 and will face West Hancock on Wednesday.  Emmetsburg finishes the season at 11 – 21 and say goodbye to 4 seniors.

Also, Sioux Central beat Pocahontas 9 – 1 and face Alta Wednesday.

Spirit Lake finishes the season at 18 – 17 and say goodbye to 3 seniors in Paige Krause, Mikayla Brockmeyer and Alissa Christoffer
