Class 1A District 1
Harris-Lake Park held a 2-0 lead over Gehlen Catholic through three innings, but the Jays would chip away at the Wolves’ lead and eventually go ahead for a 3-2 win in Class 1A District 1 baseball on Tuesday night in LeMars. H-LP’s Jordan Kyle went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Tanner Hiveley went 1-for-3 with an RBI single. Ryan Gembler went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Skylar Cudmore went 1-for-1 with an RBI single. He also reached on an error. Eli Ihnen took the loss for the Wolves. He pitched the final inning in relief, giving up one unearned run on one hit. He struck out one. Colin Brons pitched the first 6 innings for H-LP and gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits. He struck out five and walked four. H-LP graduates four seniors: Brons, Ihnen, Hiveley, and Kade Heikens. Their season ends at 11-16.

Gehlen’s Mitchell Flack got the win on the mound. He pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs (both earned) on five hits. He struck out 11 and walked none. Gehlen is 12-12 and faces Hinton in LeMars on Thursday. The Blackhawks defeated West Sioux in the early game in LeMars 15-1. Also, West Lyon beat Trinity Christian 17 – 0 in 4 innings and Central Lyon downed George Little Rock 15 – 5 in 6 innings.
