CARLSON PERFECT IN ANOTHER MAVERICKS STAMPEDE

Maddie Carlson tossed a perfect game to lead the Martin County West softball team to a run-rule victory at home against Madelia on Thursday.

The junior ace pitcher collected 10 strikeouts in five innings for the sixth-ranked Mavericks during a 10-0 victory over the Blackhawks. Carlson also hit an RBI single.

MCW scored three runs in the first inning, added one more in the second, and pulled away with six in the fourth.

Ida Rohman had a pair of hits, drew a walk, and batted in a run. Lillie Schultz walked three times and scored a trio of runs. Courtney Anderson hit an RBI single and walked twice. Emily Schettler roped a two-run double. Bailey Larson had one hit.

The 4-0 Mavericks are scheduled to visit top-ranked United South Central on Friday and we will have that game on Xtreme.

The Rebels have outscored opponents by a combined score of 56-0 during their 4-0 start as they look to defend last year’s Class A state championship.

Coverage from Wells will begin at 4:15 with the first pitch at 4:30, weather permitting.

EAGLES TOO MUCH FOR MAVERICKS

The Martin County West baseball team ran into a red-hot team in Windom on Thursday.
The Eagles took down the Mavericks 17-3 in four innings for a sixth straight victory.
Noah Meixell and Kaleb Kennedy each had a hit, a walk, a run batted in, and a run scored for MCW. Meixell got his RBI on a double and also stole a base. Colsan Anderson scored the other MCW run. Preston Cepress walked twice. Talon Ebeling, Ian Matejka and Kade Fennern each walked once.
The 1-4 Mavericks visit United South Central on Tuesday.
