Spirit Lake High School and Northwestern College graduates Andy and Will Norris will be running in the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis/St. Paul on Sunday, October 6.
Andy graduated from SLHS in 2006 and NWC in 2010, was a state qualifying middle distance runner at Spirit Lake, and a scholarship track and cross-country runner at Northwestern.
Will graduated from SLHS in 2013 and NWC in 2017 and still holds various distance track and cross country records at both schools, as well as being an NAIA All-American in cross country and track, and two-time Olympic Marathon Trials Qualifier.
Andy’s goal, with younger brother Will serving as his coach, is to surpass a 3:05 Boston Marathon qualifying time in the 26.2-mile race, which would be a personal best.
Will is one of 13 men selected to the “Best of the Midwest Invitational Field” – a race-within-the-race featuring a dedicated prize purse totaling $20,000, in addition to being eligible for the overall professional prize purse worth $26,000. Will’s personal best of 2:15:32 puts him second seed in the Best of the Midwest field.
