(Spirit Lake)– An organization that promotes philanthropy among young people has made a sizable donation to a lakes area organization.
Youth In Philanthropy Wednesday evening presented a check in the amount of $11,600 to Norm Johnson of Camp Foster YMCA.
The funds raised by the organization’s student members will be used to construct a permanent roof structure and handicapped access ramp in the area that serves as Camp Foster’s chapel and outdoor events venue.
The Youth In Philanthropy initiative is an outreach of the Okoboji Foundation. It’s goal is to inspire high school students to identify community needs and build a sense of social responsibility by funding grants for various causes in the Iowa Great Lakes.
