Work On Highway Nine In Osceola County To Get Underway

November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– Motorists on Highway nine through eastern Osceola county can expect some delays starting next week as the result of a resurfacing project.

The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cherokee Construction office says the road will be limited to one lane of traffic from about 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. between Highway 60 and Osceola County Road L-58 beginning May 4th, weather-permitting. Traffic will be assisted through the area by flaggers and a pilot car.

The roadway will be re-opened when workers aren’t present.

Officials say the lane reduction will continue through the rest of May.

After that, the entire road in that same area will be totally closed to traffic beginning June 1st, weather and schedules-permitting. Traffic will be detoured using Highway 60 at Sibley along with Osceola County Roads A-22 and L-58 through Ocheyedan.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-October.

Motorists are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the construction zone. Fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones.
