Work Continues On Some Major Projects In Estherville

(Estherville)– Progress continues on a couple of major projects in Estherville. One of those includes the extension of infrastructure to a new industrial park on the city’s south side. City Administrator Penny Clayton told the city council earlier this week work is now underway in the area of South 19th Street and 9th Avenue South, near the city’s brush dump…
“So approximately two weeks is the length of time they’re going to need for this section to be able to get the storm sewer and sub drain in place to properly drain the industrial park. So then it would be re-opened after they put the rock base down. After the rock base is down they’ll still have to do the paving, but they won’t start that right away. So we’ll be able to drive on the rock base until they actually do the paving and then you have another 7 to 10 days where it will be closed again.”
Work also continues on the new swimming pool near the Regional Wellness Center. The city council Monday approved some changeorders for that project. Clayton says one of those will include some additional ADA features and sidewalks…
“So the idea here is to extend the sidewalk from north to south in the islands along South 18th Street for pedestrian travel. This would be six foot wide. The islands are a little bit over 13 feet wide on the south and then the large island near the RWC is 20 foot wide, so we have sufficient room to have a nice grass surface there as well.”
Plans call for the new pool to be open for the upcoming season.
