(Wahpeton)– A special event Saturday, April 22nd will give women in the area an opportunity to learn new outdoor recreation skills, build a nature-loving community, and experience the natural landscapes of Dickinson county. Sue Boettcher of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach says “Spring Wind, Women in Nature” will be held at Lakeside Laboratory in Wahpeton…
“Everybody will be able to go to two sessions so in the morning they can choose between primitive hunting tools which is archery, atlatl and hatchets, and I believe atlatl is like spears. There’s Spring Birds of Iowa, which I’m excited to be able to lead that one and we’re going to go out to Kettleson Hogsback for that one; and outdoor cooking. And then in the afternoon the primitive hunting tools will be repeated; there’s a Canoes for Beginners; and Pond Dipping: Exploring Life Below the Waves. So fun, fun activities.”
The cost is $20 per person…
“We are capping this at 20 people per class in each session, so get registered, for registration you can find information on all of our websites. This is co-sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, the Clay County Conservation Board, the Dickinson County Conservation Board and Iowa Lakeside Labs.”
