(Denver, Co.)– We’ve learned additional details into the victim of a drowning that happened earlier this month on West Lake Okoboji.
The Denver Post in Denver, Colorado reports the victim, 46-year-old Jennifer Gallagher of Denver, helped care for a victim from the Aurora, Colorado theatre shooting that were taken to University of Colorado Hospital. Gallagher worked at the hospital for 13 years and cared for one shooting victim treated in the hospital’s neurological intensive care unit, which she helped open.
The hospital’s nursing chief officer, Carolyn Sanders, says Gallagher was a “beloved nurse” who was well known for her ability to connect with people and develop caring relationships with her patients.
Gallagher was also among the staffers who met with President Barack Obama during his visit to Aurora following the shooting.
Gallagher drowned on a family vacation in the Iowa Great Lakes earlier this month. She went swimming in West Lake Okoboji the night of August 6th. Her body was found under a dock the next day.
12 people were killed and 58 were wounded in the shooting rampage at a midnight movie showing of the latest batman movie one month ago.
