Woman Wanted On Warrants Found Hiding In An Attic

January 05, 2026

(Laurens)– A Laurens woman wanted on warrants was taken into custody Saturday after authorities found her hiding under some insulation in an attic.

Pocahontas Police Chief Alex Leu says 21-year-old Jackie Nehring was wanted by several law enforcement agencies. Tips they received took them to a residence in Laurens. They eventually found Nehring in the home’s attic, hiding in some insulation, where she was taken into custody.

Nehring was wanted on warrants out of Palo Alto county for felony parole violation for escape. She was also wanted by the Iowa Department of Corrections Third Judicial District for escaping from a residential treatment facility. Nehring was also wanted by authorities in Buena Vista county for failure to appear on a charge of fraudulent practice…5th degree.

Leu says they’re asking anyone with information on those who assisted Nehring when she escaped custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections to contact their nearest law enforcement agency.

The Pocahontas and Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Offices assisted in the investigation.
