Woman Sentenced For Stealing Money From City Of Storm Lake

November 22, 2014

(Storm Lake)– A 43-year-old woman has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for stealing money from the city of Storm Lake.

Lee Martin was sentenced Monday for felony theft. A second felony charge was dropped as part of a plea bargain.

Martin pleaded guilty last month to taking more than $68,500 between December 2010 and November 2011. She worked for the city for 21 years as Office Manager for the city of Storm Lake Public Safety Department.

Buena Vista County Attorney Dave Patton says there is no minimum sentence, so Martin could be released on parole as soon as a few months from now.
