(Spencer)– A Spencer woman was arrested on multiple charges Thursday, accused of choking an employee of the Spencer Hy-Vee and assaulting law enforcement officers.
Spencer police were called to the store shortly after 7:00 am and found a woman acting erratically. 37-year-old Jessica Thornton of Spencer was arrested but allegedly assaulted multiple officers before being transported to jail. Once at the jail she allegedly assaulted additional law enforcement officers and jail staff.
Thornton was charged with willful injury, three counts of assault on persons in certain occupations causing bodily injury, two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations, interference with official acts causing bodily injury, criminal mischief in the 4th degree, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. She was booked into jail on a $5,000 bond.
