(Stoughton, Wis.)– Officials with the Dane County, Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office say a southwest Minnesota man and his son were seriously injured when their single-engine plane crashed today (Monday) in south-central Wisconsin.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Elise Schafer says the 14-year-old boy was taken by air and his 51-year-old father was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. The Sheriff’s Office identifies the father as Richard Cross and son as Brennan Cross, from Brewster, Minnesota.
Schaffer says their 1950’s plane crashed about 9:30 a.m. in a grassy area in the middle of some woods shortly after taking off from Matson Airport in Stoughton, Wisconsin. The father and son had visited the Experimental Aircraft Association Convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and spent the night at relatives in Stoughton. Schafer says the two were on their way back to southwest Minnesota when their plane went down.
