(Windom, Mn.)– Police in Windom, Minnesota say a fatal shooting and residential burglary early today (Wed.) in that city appear to be related.
Police say they were called to the 1400 block of 12th Avenue in Windom at 5:19 am and found a 79-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to the Windom hospital where she later died.
At about 5:28 am, Windom police were called to the 1200 block of River Road after getting a report of a man in a bathroom. The 38-year-old man, who’s name hasn’t been released, was taken into custody on a burglary charge and was taken to the Windom hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident. He was then transported to the Cottonwood County Jail.
Windom police say the incidents remain under investigation. They add there is no threat currently to the public.
The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting in the investigation.
