Wind Chill Advisory Issued For A Good Deal Of The Area

January 19, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Some more potentially dangerous winter weather will impact the region tonight (Fri.) into Saturday. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for a large part of the region, including the Iowa Great Lakes, from 6:00 pm this (Fri.) evening until noon Saturday.

Forecasters say wind chills could get as low as -35 degrees. They say that could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Anyone planning to be outdoors or traveling should make sure they are properly prepared for the elements and have the proper gear with them.

The actual air temperature by daybreak Saturday could be near -20 degrees.
