(Milford)– The man selected to become the next Superintendent at the Okoboji Community School District says he’s excited about coming back to an area he’s already well familiar with. Will Dible is a graduate of Okoboji High School. He’s had prior experience as a teacher and also as an administrator at the Spencer Community School District where he was high school principal and director of school improvement. Dible is currently Superintendent at Alburnett. He tells KUOO news there were several things that led to his interest in applying for the Superintendent job at Okoboji…
“I think I’m unique in the sense that I have the experience of both being a student there in addition to wanting to come back as an employee there through the district. And so graduating from Okoboji I know it’s a great district, I already know the history of it, but I also know how it’s on a great trajectory, it’s a great school district. I know it’s the only district in northwest Iowa to have passed their bond this last year meaning there’s a great amount of community support for them as well, and you can just tell that great things are happening through statistics such as the work-based learning statistic that the high school has, a lot of initiatives going on such as No Boundaries and other programs that teachers just do a wonderful job there. It’s a really excited opportunity and it’s appealing to a lot of people, not just myself.”
Dible says he looks forward to continuing to grow on the successes of the Okoboji Community Schools…
“Really I’m just looking forward a lot to being able to learn what we already do at Okoboji and really expand upon those things and support the staff in doing and meeting those needs and the board as well and seeing the direction that obviously wanting to continue in the direction Okoboji is already going. A lot of the time that first step is to just come in and learn about all the great things happening, how can we expand upon them and support them and make it an even better place. That’s going to be tough because Okoboji is a great place already, so.”
He adds he’s very excited and is looking forward to coming back to the area…
“Very much looking forward to working with everyone there both in the community side of things as well as the students, staff and parents. It’s just a wonderful opportunity and can’t speak enough on how excited I am.”
Dible and his wife have three children ages 9, 6 and 4. He starts his new job at Okoboji this coming July 1st.
