(Spirit Lake)– The recent purchase of a well known residence on West Lake Okoboji was one for the record books.
According to Christie’s International Real Estate, Peace Harbor, previously owned by Tom Bedell, sold for $9.5 million dollars, making it the highest price paid for a home in Iowa. It was reportedly listed at $9.9 million. The sale closed on Monday of this week.
The 25,000 square feet house has 52 rooms, including eight bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, along with an Irish pub.
According to Christie’s, newly constructed two-bedroom condominiums on the lakefront in the lakes area have a starting price of $1.2 million. It says waterfront single-family homes go anywhere from $800,000 to $6 million.
The real estate company says lakefront property is getting harder and harder to come by.
