Welfare Check Lands Spirit Lake Man In Jail On Pot Charges

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– What started as a welfare check by Spirit Lake police and the Department of Human Services at a Spirit Lake residence this past weekend resulted in the arrest of a Spirit Lake man on drug charges.

Police Chief Jeff Hanson says officers were asked by the DHS around 1:40 p.m. Saturday to conduct a welfare check at 1604 Erie Avenue.

Upon arriving officers found a green plant material alleged to be marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.

30-year-old Chad Clark of Spirit Lake was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana…first offense…a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor.

Clark was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
