Webb Man Escapes Injury When A Train Collides With A Semi He Was Driving

January 31, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Storm Lake)– A Webb man escaped injury Thursday when a semi he was driving collided with a train southeast of Alta.

The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Gregory Hermstad of Webb was driving the semi tractor-trailer that was loaded with soybeans. Deputies say Hermstad was attempting to turn off Highway 7 onto a county road and was attempting to go over the rail crossing when he collided with a Canadian National Railway train, which struck the semi’s trailer.
