Water Quality Commission Accepting Grant Applications

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Water Quality Commission has begun accepting applications for the next round of funding.

The commission funds $200,000 a year toward water quality improvement projects to protect Dickinson county lakes. The funds are made available through a 28-E Agreement between all the cities in Dickinson county and the Dickinson county board of supervisors.

The goal of the fund is to match every local dollar with three dollars of private, state or federal funds. Over the several years of the Water Quality Commission the match averaged about nine dollars for every local dollar allocated to the several projects.

The deadline for submitting applications is October 3rd. Water Quality Commissioners will then rank the projects and make a decision by late October.

Applications are available through the Dickinson County Soil and Water Conservation District or can be downloaded from the Cleanwater Alliance website at http://www.cleanwateralliance.net click on the WQC link at the top of the page.
