Voting Now Underway In Corridor’s Big Idea Challenge

February 26, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Voting is underway for the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation’s Big IDEA entrepreneurial challenge. Trevor Smith, Senior Vice President of Economic Development at the Corridor, says the program allows entrepreneurs the opportunity to submit their dreams to start or expand their business, then encourage friends, family and customers to vote for them…

“So with this voting process, the top five ideas will move on to the final pitch competition which will be held early April where they will have a chance to compete for $10,000 in cash prizes: first place $5,000; second place $3,000; $1,000, and the last two $500 each. It’s really important that everybody gets out and votes for their favorite idea.”

While the top five ideas advance to the final pitch-off and with five proposals that have been submitted, Smith says it’s still important for the public to vote…

“Since there are five individuals who submitted for a video, they will all move on to the final pitch-off and so the voting period is still important as it contributes to 10 percent of their total score when they get in front of the panel of judges and entrepreneurs here in about a month.”

Smith says you can see the five submissions and vote on them online…

“Go to CorridorBigIDEA.com. There’s a big vote now page and you’ll be able to go there, see all the videos, see the descriptions, and vote on your favorite. You can vote once per day, per device and so make sure to continue to go back to it and keep voting or your favorite and voting will go through next Friday, March 7th at 5:00 pm.”
