(Spencer)– A new video series highlighting life in various communities throughout Minnesota and Iowa is about to make its debut. Titled “My Town”, the YouTube and Facebook series highlights life in rural towns in Minnesota and Iowa. It’s produced by Twin Cities journalist Cory Hepola.

The first season features a piece on Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties and was done as a collaborative effort with the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation. Alyssa Petersen, Coordinator of Administration and Communication for the Corridor, says even though it hasn’t made its debut yet, the series is already getting some special recognition…

“We did filming back at the beginning of the year and we actually just got the announcement a couple of weeks ago that the first season, so all seven episodes in the first season of My Town were selected to premier at the Twin Cities Film Fest in October. And so we will have a theatrical premier of the full season in mid to late October and then public release of those on Facebook and YouTube will be, ours is the second week, it will be released weekly, ours is the second week, so I believe that’s the first week of November that we will see ours on Facebook and YouTube.”

Corridor President and CEO Curt Strouth says the video will serve as an important tool for workforce recruitment in the region.
