Veteran’s Day Program To Be Held Monday (Nov. 11th) At Estherville Campus Of ILCC

November 07, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– This coming Monday, November 11th, is Veteran’s Day. A number of programs commemorating the observance will be held throughout the area, including one at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center at the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. Tim Ireland, Veterans Center Director at Iowa Lakes, says it’s free and everyone is invited…

“It starts at 11:00. The Iowa Lakes Community College band and choir will both be involved helping out with that. Michelle Dana is going to be the emcee. Parker Partello, a graduate from Spirit Lake High School, will give the military student section of the program. Colors will be presented by Estherville VFW Post 3388 and lunch will be provided in The Max Cafeteria for veterans plus one. That is provided by one specific donor and the Elks Lodge #528 in Estherville.”

Ireland, a retired Air National Guard veteran who was also a recipient of the 2023 Veteran Champion in Higher Education Award, will be the keynote speaker…

“I plan on talking about teamwork across the branches. I’m going to tell a couple of stories, real life, from when I was in the desert and how the six branches work together to get the job done.”

For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be live streamed at iowalakes.edu.
