Numerous events are planned around the Iowa Great Lakes in conjunction with Veteran’s Day, which falls on Friday this year.
The Iowa Rock and Roll music Associations presents their 7th Annual Rock for Vets tonight at Arrowwood Resort in Okoboji, featuring live music from two groups – the house band, which includes several Rock and Roll hall of famers, plus The Jammers out of Lemars. Military veterans are admitted free, and admission is just 5 dollars for civilians. Everyone is encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to help the Upper Des Moines Food Pantry. The doors open at 6:30 this evening, with music from 7-10 at Arrowwood Resort.
Tomorrow, two programs will be held at the Sami Center in Spirit lake. The first begins at 10 am, with a second program at 11, which will feature Dr. Steven Baskerville as the keynote speaker.
Veterans’ Day programs will also be held tomorrow at the Harris Lake Park Schools, starting at 10:30 tomorrow morning at the elementary School. Another program is slated for 1 pm at the Middle High School Auditorium and a third program at the Lake Park Care Center. 9th District American Legion Commander James Kessler is slated to be the keynote speaker at each program.
