(Undated)– A very high fire danger will be in place across all of northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota in coming days. A red flag warning has been issued for the region from 1:00 pm this (Wed.) afternoon until 7:00 pm this (Wed.) evening. Forecasters say the combination of a gusty south wind, low humidity and very dry vegetation means any fire that should happen to get started will spread quickly.
A fire weather watch has been issued for the region Thursday with similar conditions expected. Officials say that likely will be upgraded to a red flag warning as well.
Burn bans remain in effect for numerous counties in the region, with the exception of Dickinson, Buena Vista, Pocahontas and Kossuth counties.
