(Undated)– Area utilities are telling residents it’s time to be concerned about the possibility of frozen water lines. Residents are being encouraged to do what they can to prevent that from happening. Recommendations include running a stream of water from a faucet that’s the length of a pencil lead. They also say it’s a good idea to keep access doors open below sinks and vanities, especially if they’re against an outside wall.
Signs of a water line possibly freezing include a sputtering noise when turning the tap on; low water pressure; discolored water; water that is under 35 degrees at the tap; and very cold piping at the fixture.
