Officials with Black Hills Energy say a buildup of snow and ice on natural gas meters can create a safety hazard and even cut off the flow of gas to heating equipment and other appliances. Customers are urged to check their meters and gently clear away snow by using your hand or a broom. They say a shovel, ice pick, or other sharp tools should NOT be used.
