(Undated)– Utility companies are reminding residents of the importance of making sure your natural gas meter is clear of snow and ice build-up. Marissa Gaal, Public Affairs Manager with Black Hills Energy, says not doing that could potentially cause some serious issues…
Gaal says you should use your hands, a brush or a broom to carefully clear snow away from the meter and to never use a snow shovel or snow blower near the meter.
She says it’s also important to make sure outdoor vents aren’t clogged with snow and ice. Newer high-efficiency furnaces won’t run safely or efficiently, or maybe not even at all, if vents are blocked.
