USDA To Hold Listening Post In Spencer

(Spencer)– Local community and economic leaders are being encouraged to attend a rural issues listening post that will be held July 14th in Spencer.

The event will be facilitated by Bill Menner, USDA Rural Development State Director in Iowa. Menner will hear concerns and comment from community and economic development leaders as well as the general public. He’ll also address some of the issues brought up and possible opportunities to keep rural Iowa vibrant and prosperous.

The agency in the past year has helped a record number of Iowans receive funding for economic development projects and quality of life improvements.

USDA Rural Development currently administers and manages more than 40 housing, business and community infrastructure and facility loan and grant programs designed to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, farmers and ranchers and improve the quality of life in rural America.

The July 14th event will be held at 2:00 p.m. in room 108 A at the Spencer campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.

USDA Rural Development has 11 offices across Iowa. The Storm Lake office serves Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Palo Alto and Pocahontas counties in our area.
