(Spirit Lake)-Upper Des Moines Opportunity will be changing their hours starting in June. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Upper Des Moines Opportunity will implement new hours of operations for outreach services.
Executive Director Julie Edwards says the decision was based on several factors. “Summer is a slower time even though families are still in crisis and needing food. We’ve looked at the data and we’ve looked at our tightening budget and we had to make some decisions. We met with Outreach Staff, The UDMO Board of Directors and The UDMO Administrative Team, and we came to the conclusion that in order to be fiscally responsible and to continue to have longevity, we had to make some cuts.”
She says the hours of operation will vary by location. “Many of them were cut from 5 days a week to 4 days a week. Some of our centers are open 3 days a week, and there are a couple counties that are open 2 days a week, but these decisions kept everyone employed, they kept our offices open, and they kept an office open in every county that we serve. There is a phone number on the door that they can call or they can go to udmo.com, and if they scroll down there’s a map. They can click on their county and it will take them to their specific county page that has phone numbers and office hours.”
