(Spirit Lake)– There will be some changes in the makeup of the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors in the new year. Unofficial results from Tuesday’s election show incumbents Jeff Thee and Tim Fairchild losing their re-election bids.

Thee, who was defeated in June’s Republican Primary, was running as a write-in for the District 3 seat in Tuesday’s election. Unofficial results show challenger, Steve Dullard, receiving 1,560 while Thee received 367 votes.

For the District 5 seat, incumbent Tim Fairchild lost his re-election bid to challenger Levi Markwardt. Markwardt received 1,244 votes compared to 689 for Fairchild.

Wind turbines and county finances were the key issues in both of those races.

Voters in the Okoboji Community School District also voted Tuesday on a $69 million dollar bond issue to build a new elementary school and for an addition and remodeling of the high school. The Dickinson county portion of those results show 2,567 voting in favor with 1,517 no, for an approval of 62.85 percent. That does not include votes for that portion of the district involving three townships in Clay county where 80 voted in favor and 54 no.

A bond measure was also on the ballot Tuesday for voters in the Emmetsburg Community School District. Unofficial results show it falling short of the 60 percent needed for approval. 1,247 were in favor while 1,211 were opposed, for an approval of 50.73 percent.

In Emmet county, unofficial results from Tuesday’s election show Lisa Hansen, Todd Glasnapp and Tim Schumacher being elected to three seats on the Board of Supervisors. Hansen received 2,764 votes; Glasnapp 2,322 and Schumacher 2,292. Brandon Carlin, meanwhile, received 2,118 votes and Adam Edwards had 879.
