Unofficial city election results for Dickinson county: Arnolds Park, Jim Hussong was unopposed for Mayor with 151. There were three at-large seats open on the city council. Incumbents John Adams, Jason Christensen and James Jensen were all re-elected. Adams received 129 votes; Christensen 116 and James Jensen 109. A challenger, Mike Koppert, received 73.

In Lake Park, incumbent Matt Carstensen was unopposed for Mayor with 503 votes. There were two at-large seats open on the city council. Only one person had filed: Whitney Thiessen received 436 votes.

In Milford, incumbent Mayor Steve Anderson was unopposed with 363 votes. There were two at-large council seats open. Incumbent Shane Hoffman was re-elected with 312 along with Kyle Mohni with 221. A third candidate, Derek Schwery, received 186.

In Okoboji, Mary Vanderwoude, an incumbent, was unopposed for Mayor with 99 votes. Jim Hentges and Jim Delperdang were both unopposed for their respective seats on the city council. Each received 98 votes.

In Orleans incumbent Mayor Bill Maas was unopposed with 127 votes. Two incumbents on the city council, Kristine Hoss and Terry Wilts, were defeated in their re-election bids. Elected to the two open seats were Dean Madagan with 138 and Peggy Rick with 111. Wilts had 52 votes and Hoss 51. A lodging tax for the city of Orleans was approved with 138 in favor and 63 opposed.

In Spirit Lake, Kevin Bice was elected Mayor with 860 votes. Nate Vortherms received 363. Three at-large seats were up for election on the city council. Brett Johnson received 745 votes; incumbent Keith Brockmeyer had 735 and David Mensing received 673.

In Superior, James Tendal, Sr. was unopposed for Mayor with 15 votes. Terry Buchman and Arnold Rinke were the only announced candidates. Each had 17 votes. Kristy Blom was unopposed to fill a vacancy with 19.

In Terril, incumbent Julie Thiessen was re-elected Mayor with 57 votes while challenger Mollie Petersen had 25. Three people were running for three open seats on the city council: Amy Ness had 60 votes; Sara Laidig 57 and Shawn Adams 56.

In Wahpeton incumbent Phil Johnson was unopposed for Mayor with 45 votes. Bradley Jones and Holly Mead were unopposed for two open at-large seats on the city council. Mead had 44 votes and Jones 43. Rosalise Olson was unopposed to fill a vacancy with 47 votes.

In West Okoboji, Craig Miner was unopposed for Mayor with 57 votes. Elected to three open seats on the city council were Mike Olson with 57 votes; Robert Hein with 55 and Paul Sieh with 54. Teresa Schoelerman received 25 votes.

SCHOOL ELECTIONS

Harris-Lake Park Director District 1: Ebony Rahe was unopposed with 597 votes. District 3: Jamie Reverts was unopposed with 584. District 5: Douglas Goodell was unopposed with 616. Bond issue: 577 yes (73%, 60% required for passage); 217 no. Levy referendum: 564 yes (71%); 227 no.

Okoboji: At-large (3 open seats). Elected were Jeanne Fisher with 477, John Klopstad with 420 and Joe Kennedy with 379. Others receiving votes included Amanda Plathe with 368; Allison Antoine with 323; Ryan Schmidt 267 and Brian Hinshaw 255.

Spirit Lake: At-large (3 open seats). Elected were Teresa Beck with 1,556; Greta Gruys with 1,539 and Jeromy Mouw with 1,441. Others receiving votes included Tyler Alger with 665 and Linda Moore with 508. There were two vacancies on the Spirit Lake School Board. Elected to those positions were Sonja Hamm with 1,485 and Mieka Stecker with 1,377. Others receiving votes included Michele Goodenow with 658 and Yvonne Taylor with 400.

Elsewhere: In Spencer, voters Tuesday approved proposals to reduce the number of people serving on the city’s Library Board and to reduce the terms of those seats. Brea Schmidt and Phillip Bieber were elected to two open seats on the Spencer School Board.

In Estherville, Adam Edwards was elected Mayor and Gary Myers was elected to an at-large position on the city council. David Hovinga was elected to fill a vacancy. Jill Jensen, Jeff Soper and Flor Hernandez were elected to three open seats on the Estherville-Lincoln Central School Board.

Voters in Osceola county approved a measure that will allow for improvements of the county’s law enforcement center.

Voters in the Sheldon School District Tuesday approved a $19.16 million measure for improvements and remodeling at the high school. The measure received approval from 70 percent of those who voted; it needed at least 60 percent.
