University of Okoboji Oktoberfest Is This Weekend

September 25, 2025

University of Okoboji Oktoberfest is this Saturday at Preservation Plaza in Arnolds Park. Morgan Strauss, Director of Marketing and Events for the Iowa Great Lakes Chamber of Commerce, says you can still register for the various events online until 5:00 pm today (Thurs.) and in person Saturday morning from 8:00 am until 9:45 am. She says there will be a lot going on in addition to a bean bag tournament…

We have obviously our bike ride kicking off at 10 am. We’ll have our vendor show at the top of green space which we’re super excited for. I think we have about 28 booths. We’ll have inflatables for the kiddos, some games, axe throwing from the throwing post as well as a few other ones. Our bean bag tournament kicks off at 12:30. We’ll give away our Smart Power Sports e-bike at 1:00 so your registration automatically enters you for a chance to win that so that’s super exciting as well. Rounding off the afternoon is the keg toss at 1:30 which is free to sign up and that’s also day of as well as the Stein holding competition at 2:30. That’s free as well so we hope to see you all there and then we’ll finish the day off with our duck derby. So, if you’re looking to buy tickets for that you can get those the day of as well from Spirit Lake Noon Kiwanis and it’s always fun to see the ducks being released into West Lake.”

Strauss adds University of Okoboji Oktoberfest has grown into a big tradition in the Iowa Great Lakes…

“It started off with a bike ride. We love the Three Sons and everything they brought to the area 34 years ago. So it started with a bike ride and then it’s just continued to grow all the years after that, so we’re really excited to keep the tradition alive and bring fall to the Iowa Great Lakes Area cause there is always something to do here whether its the summer, fall, spring you name it we’ve got something going on.”
