Underage Party Results In Numerous Arrests

(Dickens)– What started as an anonymous complaint of an underage drinking party shortly after midnight Saturday in Dickens resulted in drug and alcohol charges against six people, with 16 others being cited for underage drinking.

Upon arriving at 306 Second Street in Dickens, authorities saw 15 to 20 cars in the driveway and on the street.

An investigation resulted in authorities administering breath tests to 16 subjects, with all of them failing. 18-year-old Andrew Hoogeterp, 18-year-old Brandon Elliot, 18-year-old Katie Frederick, 18-year-old Karissa Lord, 19-year-old Nate Brewer, 18-year-old Ross Wolthuis, 19-year-old Jared Wolthuis, 19-year-old Scott Riley, 19-year-old Kira Lord, 18-year-old Jordan Boyd and 19-year-old Robert Clopton…all of Spencer…and 20-year-old Brittany LaCour of Sibley…were all charged with underage alcohol consumption. In addition, three juvenile females and one juvenile male were transported to the Clay county jail and cited in juvenile court for underage consumption. They were released to the custody of their parents.

Deputies also detected a strong smell of marijuana smoke coming from a room with several people in it. 19-year-old Emily Cornwall of Graettinger and 20-year-old Michael Stricker of Spencer were arrested and charged with underage alcohol possession; possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

21-year-old Chris Wise of West Bend and 21-year-old Benjamin Stix of Spirit Lake were charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The same charges were filed against 20-year-old Caleb Brewer of Spencer who was also charged with supplying alcohol to minors.

19-year-old Chase Foote of Dickens was also charged with supplying alcohol to minors.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the case remains under investigation and more arrests are expected.
