(Jackson, Mn.)– The pilot of an ultralight plane that crash landed late this (Thursday) morning in a bean field north of Jackson walked away from the wreckage uninjured.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 64-year-old Donald Reinen of Fairmont was piloting an ultralight and was descending to make a landing at the Jackson airport when a control arm either jammed or broke.
Reinen was checked over on the scene by paramedics, but wasn’t injured.
The plane sustained moderate damage to the nose and undercarriage.
Jackson County Sheriff Roger Hawkinson says his office was notified of the downed plane two miles north of Jackson around 11:00 a.m.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, Jackson Police Department, the Jackson Fire Department and Jackson ambulance.
